Virtually every aspect of it is better, from the setting, the art direction, the actual graphics, the game design, the story, the amount of content... it's just nuts how much better it is.

Incompetent Programmers / Engine design.

If you look up what they're doing, you'll be face palming & ROFLMAO at how bad their programming is compared to any average game dev.

They're "Technically Incompetent" on such a level, it's laughable how they got this far.

If they really want a flexible Pokemon Game engine for the future, they basically should re-write the entire game from scratch and target efficiency from the outset.

Not Band-Aid their way through each generation.

I hated battling in Arceus. Plus its only like 300 Pokmon isnt it? The actual gameplay loop in Violet is far more satisfying than anything Arceus did tbh.

So the weird thing about Legends: Arceus is that it has SO MANY quality of life improvements to the typical Pokemon formula. It's faster, it has a LOT less tedious "X is now confused" or "you picked up X" bullshit. Catching Pokemon is more streamlined. Battles feel much more rewarding (and are a lot harder). Visually, while it isn't super impressive it has a consistent painterly visual aesthetic that absolutely works and is charming.

And then Scarlet/Violet looks like someone went to the Unreal store and just pasted random shit around. And reverses all of the QOL improvements of Arceus.

It was more limited in scope for sure, but from a game design perspective it was LEAGUES better than any previous Pokemon game. If they took the same mechanics and put them in a more traditional Pokemon structure, it'd be miles better than any mainline title.

Scarlet and Violet are pretty fun.

Legends: Arceus has become my favorite pokemon game after Emerald and ORAS

I love the exploration, the movement, and the world and story. I wish it would have gotten some kind of DLC.

For the most part no, LA is NOT better than S/V. The only things LA has that is better than S/V is...

Resolution(Due to smaller areas and more loading areas)

Technical Performance(For the same reasons as resolution)

Music(Mainly because it's mostly D/P remixes)

Battle Animations(But only by a little bit)

Player Character Dash

Real Time Catching Mechanics(Although it's poorly balanced)

Shiny Pokemon Indication

Other than that S/V does almost everything else better...

Much more Pokemon
Much more Moves
Abilities
Traditional Battle System that is WAY BETTER balanced
Held Items
Fast and convenient Hyper Training and EV Training that actually carries over to other games
Terastallizing
Local and Online PvP
Tera Raid Battles
World size and design
More than one town
Traditional Gym Experience storyline for purists
Overall Content

So yeah tired of these people who don't know what they are talking about claiming LA is better.

One day I plan on perfecting my pokedex and getting the Mark of Solitude on every 'mon

The only people you can battle are extremely limited in number. Also no multiplayer is a major detractor for the game as trading and battling are what the series is always built on.

One thing that's nice about S/V over Arceus is there's no fall damage on your mount. Shit was so stupid in Arceus when I'd hop off a baby bitch hill and whatever I was riding would complain like its bones were made of tissue paper or something (not to mention the possibility of just straight up "dying" and having to wait for someone to retrieve the items you lost).

In S/V I can freely leap off whatever mountain/cliff/plateau however high up and Koraidon will always land gracefully on all fours when I finally hit the ground. Although I feel like Hisuian Braviary had better glide physics than the S/V mounts do.

Some people legitimately only do the post game or competitive stuff on a mainline Pokemon game that sadly makes it worth their while. 1v1s were completely fucked in this generation but the VGC format is really kicking it

You can't really say any of that for Legends Arceus.

Visually it's better, and the catch mechanic is awesome.

Scarlet/violet feels like it was made with a stronger hardware in mind as the base and then ported down on Switch. Like I'm talking about an upclocked Mariko or Switch 2/Drake.

Didn't Upper Management make sure to pay attention to both teams and make sure they develop a quality product?

Or did one team get more attention, and the other was allowed to run rough shod.

LA is way more fucking fun to explore and catch. SV has proper battling though. But it's annoying when wile pokemon catch you

LA presumably got time to get fully baked, considering it was a february release rather than november like usual (where we got BDSP which was an obvious outsourced rushjob). SV probably got rushed for the 2022 holidays

Got to hand it to game freak, they found a way to dethrone Diamond and Pearl as my least favorite generation.

My buddy told me that they rushed it out for holidays so Nintendo can focus all its attention on botw2 in a few months. Didnt want Pokmon to compete with it

Its not, really, though.

They just stripped so much back from the game that they were able to focus more time on certain core elements. But its pretty obviously a bare-bones/tech demo type game
