been doing a bunch of research on some earbuds. i've had two break on me:

  1. had this pair of TOZO brand earbuds that i bought off amazon for $40. they were actually great for the price. don't remember how they broke, but i had them for like 1 year and then had to replace them
  2. currently using the Google Pixel Buds A-Series. really great earbuds, but a few weeks ago the left earbud suddently started being very quiet...so i tried cleaning them, and now BOTH the left and right are quiet as hell. well shit lol.
i think i'm a little too reckless with earbuds or something. i do drop them more than i should. anyway, what do y'all use?

I bought some Bose Earbuds that have been great so far. I don't know how well they hold up to being dropped repeatedly though

cool, thank you. not a bad price for what you're getting. yeah i drop my earbuds too much. i always figured it was common, because sometimes they're small, and sometimes they fall out of my ear. i'm not sure if dropping my earbuds were the cause of my issues, but i'm sure it didn't help.

You can try some cheap single dd iems. They all have replaceable cable that is plug in play. Should be able to handle a fall. Ive dropped my double dd iems onto the floor and it still worked. Maybe a ymmv thing tho. I read that ba driver iems are very fragile so avoid those.

Something like cca cra and qkz vk4 are $15 and good for the price. You can use eq software to change their tuning to fit ur preference. They are fairly popular iems so can find eq profiles for them. Harman curve is a nice start.

I like collecting headphones and iems. My fave game of all time is DMC 3 SE on PC w/ style switch mod. IMO it the best button masher on earth

I dont see the appeal of separate earbuds. My jlab pros has a wire connecting each earbud and all I have to do when talking to someone is pull the left one out and it drops onto my shoulder and I am kinda rough with them too and they are sport about it.

That's why I like the little ear hooks. Keeps them from falling out, even while I'm running. Those are my workout earbuds.

It's just less wires to get in the way. Plus the earbuds can be charged directly in the case and you can use 1 at a time if you chose to.

the pixel buds had this feature where, if you take your earbuds out, the music video will automatically stop playing (without having to hit "pause" or anything). dunno if there's a name for it. but the feature was kinda finicky. sometimes the video would keep playing, or sometimes if i only put ONE earbud down, the video would stop playing. dunno if i like the feature or not, and not sure if it's a pixel bud exclusive.

Nah, most mid to high end headphones have that. The name may change, depending on the manufacturer, but it's in-ear detection. There's usually an option to turn that off too. Because yeah, it's kind of finicky.
