if someone is always negative or toxic, always complaining, never making any progress in any positive direction after multiple attempts to help out, always trying to pick a fight with someone or mount some kind of righteous crusade, block/ignore them

cut off all energy vampirism, including in your online feeds and circles and you'll see that everything gets better overnight

if you don't have the training and stamina to deal with an energy vampire, just walk away and cut off contact. set up boundaries

i feel like i should block people who tell me what to do all the time and what kind of friends i should have

just because you don't know how to deal with people and choose to solve problems by vanishing and walking away doesn't mean this applies to everyone

realize that nothing will change unless you make the intentional decision to change and to fix things around you and in you that need to be fixed. nobody else can make that decision for you. and you're going to miss out if you don't choose the good path. not more complicated than this.

you can obviously do whatever you want. if you are able to handle energy vampires and have that role of shepherding them and helping them, more power to you. but most people are not going to be able to do that, and for the sake of the broader mental health it is necessary for people to build and maintain boundaries. a great first step is complete spring cleaning of all feeds and accounts - anyone negative and toxic? block and continue. if enough people do this, most of the stress and negativity in our feeds will disappear and the long term health effects on the broader population will be huge.
