Good gumbo is god-tier food. The best thing I've ever eaten is gumbo from some little greasy spoon restaurant down south.

I had gumbo cooked for me by a chef in australia and while I can't speak for how authenticate it was, it was completely delicious. I mean just read through the ingredients and tell me that doesnt look delicious.

"Is it just for deep south people?" is a terrible question.

Its not like feeding chocolate or grapes to a dog ffs.

Like, eat the food man.

And yes, good Gumbo is excellent.

Best gumbo I ever had was made by a friend's father that was from the swampy parts of Georgia. good stuff. He also made a god-tier Jumbalaya.

I had some at Disneyland

Gumbo is hard to find if you live in the north

Only ever tried Campbell's. It wasn't bad (Chicken and Sausage gumbo) but I imagine it's a very poor representation of what real Gumbo is.

I've been down to New Orleans once and had jambalaya and gumbo from the street venders. The food was incredible, even if I was shitting fire.

Ate some at every restaurant I went to in New Orleans. Absolutely love gumbo.

One year after running a Tough Mudder my friend and I stopped by this random Cajun restaurant somewhere in Georgia. Their gumbo was literally one of the best things Ive ever had

Dont let that Creole gumbo shit give you the wrong idea about gumbo. Gumbo outside of the Acadiana region in south central Louisiana is trash tier.

No, but I'll be visiting NOLA on a trip next year, so I plan to try some local foods such as gumbo.

I'm not a shrimp or shellfish guy, but chicken and sausage gumbo is pretty good.

Red beans and rice > jambalaya > gumbo

Gumbo is amazing.

My mom has a friend who lives in New Orleans, and every time they visit they bring a big Styrofoam container of fresh, authentic gumbo.

It's gone within two days every time.

"how to make a roux" is something your southern grandma teaches you and you know forever, and i'm from Missouri and my grandma was from Oklahoma. Those are accidentally South.

Heck yeah I love a good gumbo especially when they go nuts with it in the south and add chicken and sausage but also shrimp lol

Soup made with roux, okra, and usually shrimp but can also use crayfish.

Any other ingredients are a matter of opinion/style. Gumbo does not "need" to have rice or Andouille or anything like that but it often does.

Not a goddamn thing. It's starch and fat, immediately combined.

Yes, its delicious if made by the right people. But it varies so much. My grandma always made it and I feel in love with her recipe.

Gumbo is like the absolute best.

I prefer chicken/sausage gumbo to seafood gumbo. And I prefer mine with a scoop of potato salad in it.

Okra is the only goddamn plant that doesn't die immediately in my back yard garden.
I eat the pods right off the plant, and the ones that escape my maw go to the freezer and gumbo.
