everyone was so sad that Haurchefant died. everyone talks about he was their best bro and his death really shocked them and still are sad about it

i wasn't

when i was leveling in Coerthas, i was over the MSQ at the time. I WAS DONE. i wanted so badly to move on from ARR and get to the other expansions that i just skipped all the text. skip skip skip. i remember once i got really drunk and plowed through a bunch of the MSQ there. i remember there was murderer? spy? and he was a dragon in disguise or some shit? i dont fucking know. i didn't care.

so when he was back in HW i was like "oh yeah uhhhhhhh this quest giver guy"

so yeah. i didn't care he died.

At least the emotional impact is infinitely more than when all the scions get slaughtered in the base game.

I think a big part of it is he is very much your bro and is always trying to help you when the "powers that be" want to hide away and ignore everything.

yeah. i realized none of this shit really mattered at around level 40ish, i think. whenever that Titan bullshit happened.

and that was the trimmed down version of the MSQ!!!

That's fair, I pretty much skipped dialogue until the base game epilogue, as was just so done with the base game.

I wasn't super invested in 14's story by the time Haurchy died, so it wasn't a big deal to me cuz I didn't really remember who he was. What got me was he dad keeling over and crying "My son" a couple scenes later -- even out of context, that shit kinda hurt.

But it wasn't until pre-Stormblood that I started really paying attention to the plot and trying to remember characters and such.

On a replay though, now that I know the story and went back and saw exactly how important Haurchefant was to you, it kinda hurt a bit that time. He's a total fucking bro, he loved you so much.

He seemed noble and cool and was the only person who did give a shit about the hero when he got there, but I think I forgot all of that. I am often stressed out from work or drunk or tired, but it felt sad.....but it didn't move me as much as it should have. I think FFXIV is a solid game, I never finished Heavensward though a IRL friend of mine urged me to try it (and this was before they trimmed ARR) but I enjoyed a lot of that content and the later stuff I knew I couldn't competently play well anyways.

Watched people fight Final Fantasy VI bosses and I was like no way in shit can I process all of that so quickly.
