Apparently a portion of the fandom convinced themselves that there was a secret fourth episode which would make John and Sherlock a canonical couple and fitting all the pieces together in a way that the last season wouldn't be dogshit.

This kind of thing always reminds me of the Naruto ending. I think that was the biggest explosion about shipping of all time.

I know nothing about that, but I just finished an hour and a half long video essay which explained a tumblr conspiracy that the writers of Sherlock were constructing an elaborate ARG which indicated John and Sherlock were the endgame couple of the show when they were really just queerbaiting like they were fishing in a gay bar, so I feel like it's a contender for biggest shipping explosion.

I completely fell off Sherlock after like S3.

Shame, because those first two seasons were fucking incredible.

Are we talking about the BBC one with Cumberbatch? If so yeah, really terrible send off for a show that had a lot of excellent episodes.

Naruto getting together with Hinata was excellent, but Sakura marrying Sasuke instead of Rock Lee was just abhorrent.

Are you talking about BBC Sherlock? Which finale since I feel like mind loss could apply to s2 and s4 finale. Man... that show was something else. It had come out right after the cheesy RDJ sherlock movie, so we had mixed feelings about another Sherlock adaptation.

But our fears were assuaged; from the first season, hell first episode it proved to be a great show with a compelling cast of leading men. What I particularly love is the surprising references to the original short stories and how faithful they were while also setting it in modern day. Thought that was brilliant. I do remember the criticisms of that version's Moriarty especially after the awesome bait-and-switch in the first episode, but I waver between finding the Moriarty portrayal good weird or bad weird.

Then you have season 2, which ramps everything up. I loved their take on Irene Adler (wish we'd seen her again) and that season 2 finale... blew all our minds. I remember feeling like the hiatus took forever, especially since this was around the time when the 2 leads were becoming bigger and bigger household names, starring in hobbit movies and gentle whisperings of MCU involvement. So we didn't know if we'd ever see more Sherlock again.

Honestly, part of me knew they wouldn't be able to follow that finale up, and the only part of season 3 I liked was the premiere episode making fun of all the fan theories. But season 3 and 4 felt like a fever dream, they were so surreally trash. Still worth watching because the leads give great performances, but yeah. Still had one of the most laughable twists ever

One, you need more hobbies if you have 90 minutes to waste on something that dumb. Two, the people who spend time thinking about that kind of shit are bad and should feel bad.
Seriously, the fans are worst part of almost every tv show, movie, comic book series, and any other form of media in existence

Sherlock was massively inconsistent. The good episodes were amazing but the depths it went to on bad ones were really low.

Naruto and Hinata have little to.no chemistry, she liked him and he was oblivious as fuck. Only got together to appease fans

The Adventure Time fanbase had a reverse version of this because in the finale Princess Bubblegum and Marceline end up together.
