I mean, what's considered not shallow in the grand scheme? We're all just doing whatever entertains us while we're here. Who is to say your things are shallower than ehat others are doing? Just find someone who prefers the same. There's actually a lot of relationships that are just what you mentioned lol

Not shallow as in bad. Shallow as in I don't think beaches and ice skating are much to build an entire relationship on with little to no other give & take.

But yeah, give & take are a must. The thing is, you gain perspective from giving and can fuck around and better yourself and accidentally expand the things you genuinely enjoy.

I dunno. I don't feel like doing shit until someone does it with me. So, Im in an opposite mindstate. I want to be pushed and will give in willingly. I just want that push to have love driving it

But it doesn't have to be that. It can be whatever the two of you enjoy. Just have to find someone that aligns well with you.

And yeah, I don't think I bring much else. And an early start at the working life has made me pretty selfish with my free time.

It would be a dream come true, turning my bleak world into a vibrant one.

That's fair. My only advice would be to understand you have a right to set expectations in a relationship too and as long as you're straightforward with what you're willing to give, it's on the other person to decide if they want to still find potential in a relationship. I feel like the way a lot of men here (not you specifically) see relationships is that they get no say and women are just stubborn immovable objects. So, they think they gotta find a woman that's 100% ok with everything they are and everything they do immediately. Which is just not how anything ever works

For sure. So, it should just start as low expectations on both ends. Since you know you're not really trying to switch up your lifestyle, you shouldn't expect her to switch up hers. Which would just be a trial period that is basically just warming up to if you find something in someone in that time frame that makes you go "You know what? Maybe I would give a lil more to this specific person just to see them happy". If you're not open from the gate, put yourself in a position that might inspire it. And if it doesn't, you lose nothing and go back to solo'ing life.

I know you have heard this before and you get angry, but this viewpoint just isn't true for the vast majority of people.

For simplicity, say there are 5 levels of happiness. You seem to think you are a 1 and a gf would get you to a 5.

The truth is that is might get you to a 2 or 3 if lucky, but that boost likely won't last. And so many guys can tell you this. The most likely scenario is the relationship ends because you are still unhappy and don't respect yourself so how can she respect you?

Now you are at a 1 again. But then you can learn to increase your happiness simply with yourself. If you can just get to a 3, that is probably enough. Then you find the right girlfriend and you can get boosted to a 4 or possibly a 5. And this is more likely to last.

Bottom line: a gf can help one's mood if already in a semi decent place. Otherwise, it is temporary and right back where you started.

In other words, a gf will not solve your problems. You have to do that.

I never said it would be a 5 on that scale of yours. You assumed that.

What it would do, is relieve the tremendous weight of my loneliness-based depression and reignite the motivation I used to have back before this search broke my spirit.

With those two factors working in my favor, tackling the problems that finding someone didn't instantly solve would be easier than getting a Netflix greenlight.

And even if I'm wrong, there's no way of finding that out unless I find someone first, which ain't happening. So both your views on the subject and my own are entirely moot.
