TGAs were also streamed across like 10 different platforms. Which is how award shows should be done. It was impossible to find a free (legal) stream online of the Oscars or Emmys. --- http://i.imgur.com/x04tPRZ.jpg http://i.imgur.com/t7T392I.jpg ... Copied to Clipboard!

The VGA's total viewership number can't be directly compared to television broadcast ratings like the Oscar's. Television broadcast ratings are measured on average minute audience or average concurrent viewers per minute. In comparison the VGA figures are based on total viewership so pretty much anyone that just clicked on a stream and watched it briefly is reflected on the total. Its average concurrent viewership is going to be much much lower. For reference the 2020 game awards touted 83 million total viewers. Geoff tweeted that that event had a PEAK concurrent viewership of 8.3 million. This is the peak however and not the average which would be lower. In comparison the 2022 oscars had a reported audience of 15.3 million and this figure is the average concurrent viewers per minute. Its peak concurrent viewers and total viewers would be much higher. Also the Oscar ratings only take into account the USA audience that watched it through the ABC telecast. Not globally on other channels. https://gamefaqs.gamespot.com/a/user_image/3/6/7/AAZsuhAAEAb_.jpg Overall it is unlikely that the 2022 game awards is achieving a higher viewership than the Oscars or most other popular televised events but it'll probably catch up to them in the near future. https://www.nielsen.com/news-center/2015/its-time-to-put-tv-and-digital-on-an-even-playing-field/ Also if you look up Bill Clinton kid on youtube you'll find vids with hundreds of thousands of views sure. Look up Will Smith slap and you'll find vids with up to 100 million views and multiple videos with millions. Another metric you can seek out. Then you have to keep in mind that the Will Smith slap was a big topic on the news for a few days afterwards. --- I'm a Taurus I like collecting headphones and iems. WellKnownNomad posted... Maybe the Oscars and Emmys are on an outdated conceptIf they streamed them and included more categories like "Best Stunt Coordinator" etc., maybe buy the rights to exclusive premiere movie trailers and other things like that I think they'd do way better. Also, both the last two Oscar's and Emmys felt like an industry orchestrated show where both industries were incredibly embarrassed of their own product. Especially the last Oscar's, it felt like they were just bashing movies and movie making in general the entire time. These shows should be a celebration of the industry. I think ultimately that's what the TGAs has done really well. It seems like everyone, with the exception of a few Hollywood celebrities, genuinely loves being there. --- http://i.imgur.com/x04tPRZ.jpg http://i.imgur.com/t7T392I.jpg ... Copied to Clipboard!
