They say as you age it becomes harder to recognize faces and objects.

The thing is, most antibot verification is actually tracking your mouse movement and not what you pick.

Plus, the whole image capcha system was invented by Google as a way of cheaply outsourcing the manual labor required to label training data for machine learning. So on half of the boxes you click, Google doesn't even know if it's the right answer or not, it's just using your labels and building up consensus among the millions of people who are also clicking boxes.

It's troubling, but by the time I'm that old and senile it'll likely be strictly biometrics or something else.

I'm assuming they'll all be solved easier by bots by then, and captchas will be abandoned as a concept.

I hat the ones that tell you to pick every tile with a traffic light or some shit. Am I supposed to only pick the lights? Half the time I do that, it says I failed lol.

Data labeling for Machine Learning will always be a low skill, high volume task that companies will want to outsource.

I doubt I become more of a robot as time goes on.

I dont think its something corporations are actively looking to solve. Bots ultimately drive up site traffic and revenue because they clear out stock on hot products. They dont really care where money comes from.

Plus, bots scraping up all the stock on products like graphics cards, PS5s, etc. creates an artificial shortage = free marketing due to the nature of exclusivity.

The absolute worst ones are the "pick all of the images with [thing] in it" and then you pick it, and the image slowly starts to fade into a new one.

Those are when the algo assumes "almost certainly a bot" for some reason.

These commonly pop up if you use a VPN, it's annoying.

I already have problems with it.

Especially the ones that say "select the crosswalk" or "select the traffic lights."

Because I don't know how anal it is. Those verification pictures always put a tiny bit of the crosswalk or the traffic light into another frame and, half the time, they want you to select that tiny extra bit. Or they are the reverse, where if you select the tiny extra bit... they have you start over again, because they actually didn't want it (that time).
