Danganronpa V3 beated!

Well, that was...I'm not totally sure what that was, which I feel like was kinda the point. I haven't felt this judged by a video game since the final episode of Umineko! I think it was a clever way to end the story, even if it's a bit self-indulgent. The presentation of the entire thing is top notch. I did wonder if there was some sort of bad ending for participating in the sections where you're supposed to do nothing, or if you just get penalized or get a standard game over.

I've got a couple of new options on the main menu now. I'm assuming one of them will let me finish bond levels with the rest of the characters, so I'll reserve character rankings for after I'm done with that one. I dunno what the other thing does or if it's worth doing. I guess we'll see!

Overall, I'd go 2 > V3 > 1, and that feels pretty clear cut to me.

Case 1 and case 6 are by far my favorites from DRV3. I didn't like the middle four much though, mainly due to hating Kokichi. I also disliked Shuichi, so in a sense, case 1 kinda ruined the game for me. I think it would've been a much better game keeping Kaede as the protagonist.

Oh right, since I'm on the last Wheel of Time book, I might as well start asking for recommendations for my next series. It can be anything, but I do prefer fantasy and mystery stuff.

I've heard Brandon Sanderson's own stuff is good, but I wouldn't know where to start with it.

Elantris if you wanna start at the beginning, or Mistborn if you wanna start with something a bit more likely to click (they're the first two he did anyway, so it's not a big deal either way). I personally like Elantris a little more, but that's an uncommon opinion.

DRV3: Agreed that 2 > V3 > 1 feels pretty clear-cut. 3-6 is my second favorite case in the game behind 3-5 so it was a good ending IMO. The "viewer comments" stuff that eventually make up the background during the latter parts of the trial are absolutely amazing too lol.

2 > 1 > V3 imo

ASOIAF is indeed amazing, but the latter two books are vexing and end on a cliffhanger. would not recommend rn especially because the latter seasons of the tv show are also garbage. and i assume if you were really interested in the show you would've watched it by now. that said if you did read it i would follow with a rapt eye

my favorite series i've read lately is the dandelion dynasty (book 1: grace of kings, by ken liu). it's definitely a different style from others in the genre (especially book 1; think beowulf or the iliad) and it has its own legibility and pace issues (especially book 3), but it's super-ambitious and complete.

i'm not huge on it myself, but the fifth season series (NK jemisin) is also highly regarded.

if you want to try a quick breezy read, i found verity (colleen hoover) a fun one. blew through it in 3-4 hours and while it was limited in scope, i liked what it did within it. in a similar genre there's girl on the train and any gillian flynn novel, especially sharp objects or gone girl.

anyway congrats on finishing drv3! yes, curious to hear the wrap-up thoughts!

Fire Emblem Engage: Started. Engaged?

Played the Prologue and first 3 Chapters and stopped when I got my hub area. Selected Hard/Classic. Huh, lot of new systems here it seems - way more than most Fire Emblems, this could be a bit to get my head around.

Seems like an oversight to have a hub zone that is like a completely invincible fortress and not stash all the rings there and just generally rule from there!

But most importantly can't make Alear run around and jump on the loading screen 0/10 game bring back Three Houses. Unless this is a pro controller thing or I have yet to find the right button for it. This game seems to have a lot of loading but also most of them are short but I might prefer if it just gave me a single long load for some of these.

Engage team was almost completely different from 3H, so it doesn't learn many of 3H's lessons, sadly.

NISA stealth dropped Kuro no Kiseki on Steam... in Japanese. Though the more intriguing bit IMO is that they had Durante's company port it and in his Steam post about it he says: "We hope to provide a more in-depth overview by the time the English release of the game is ready."

So that's kind of a stealth announcement that NISA is localizing it. Which, I mean, isn't super surprising but I dunno, maybe reignites some hope they're a bit further along than expected given we're still waiting on Reverie.

They were always in the instruction manuals for the games. They always listed blood type, too, for whatever the reason.

I heard it's very common to know your blood type in Japan. Maybe there's something horoscope-y about it.

I'm often surprised at how many Americans don't know their blood type (my wife didn't know hers until after we were married). Feels like important info!

Fire Emblem Engage: Chapter 7 beated.

Hmm, starting to wonder if even Hard may be too easy. The first few maps were genuinely a bit tricky for me but I feel that was more me trying to figure out all the new stuff the game was throwing at me. Now that I've got a slightly better grip on it it's feeling pretty easy for the most part.

Also LOL prologue battle music still the best though Chapter 7 may have provided the best challenger yet. Will more properly investigate if it turns out to be available on the music list on my next skirmish. also kinda wish that the Somniel music box could have the battle themes too lol.

Attack on Titan Final Season Part 3 Part 1 spoilers

So long Hange. At least Floch is probably actaully dead this time. I had been wondering why all the Titans could still use their abilities even though Eren and Ymir were against them. Like Titan regen is supposed to be Ymir very slowly fixing their bodies while in the Coordinate space and I guess she's still doing that. I hope Eren at least helps her carry stuff. I was sad when Annie left but it seems like she'll be finding way back somehow.

Time to find out if Toonami's apparent blood pact to have airing privileges for the AoT dub still remain. But probably a month or so out, IIRC they were at least that far behind the sub for the last not-actually-the-final-season.

Seriously whatever deal they made when AoT Season 1 came out must have had some clause that extended to every subsequent season because Toonami is otherwise seemingly dying and losing every battle to air a show to Crunchy/Netflix/etc. except AoT lol.

I think Toonami still has dub rights.

Yeah, the dub has always been a month behind with Attack on Titan.

I'm generally pretty easy to please when it comes to Marvel stuff, but they've definitely been a step down from previous phases with a few exceptions (Spider-Man: No Way Home being the big one).

Quantumania beated! I thought that was really good, but I'm also a sucker for multiverse/time travel stuff. Thought Jonathan Majors was great as Kang, too.

Went through FFX in Theatrhythm this morning. A little surprised at some of the omissions from this one. Expected to see Cloister or Trials in here, and was also disappointed at the lack of Macalania Woods.

Yeah, those are the two definitive "dungeon" themes in the game to me.

No Devils Lab in FF6 either. Very disappointing.

No Kefka's Theme is the biggest omission from VI for me.

I thought this was the last one because they were running out of songs. It doesn't sound like they are running out of songs to me.

I mean there will be over 300 songs in it once all the DLC hits and some of that isn't FF

they generally hit the big ones but there are a few here and there I wish were included (might just be a personal preference instead of an actually popular song like Weapon Raid or You Can Hear the Cry of the Planet from FFVII)
