Whats up with this boards obsession with Zoomers lately? I bet all the people complaining about Zoomers are the people who give Boomers a hard time about complaining about Millennials.

Some zoomers are fucking stupid, yeah, but so are millennial, gen x, boomers, etc. Anytime I see someone complaining about a generation for things that have been an issue with every generation it just makes me know not to take that person seriously.

There's plenty of young idiots that have only ever used their phone or an iPad.

Can't handle using a proper laptop or workstation.

I really don't think it's about "harder" or "easier". It's just about how much the frontend informs you of the backend.

For instance, by default MacOS does its best to eliminate all displays of absolute directory locations. Of course people won't have any intuition for how the filesystem is organized, as that information is explicitly hidden from the user.

What? Didn't these people grow up with computers too? I'm confused. Isn't the old age college professor generally the one who needs education on computers?

I don't mind explaining or helping people that are computer illiterate. What bugs me are people that aren't willing to explore or tinker on the computer out of fear of fucking something up. It's not that serious and troubleshooting is a very useful skill to develop.

Zoomers know their way around a mobile phone way better than I do, so I don't judge them for not understanding even basic computer stuff.

Also the computer illiteracy isn't just zoomers. It's millenials, gen-x, and boomers too.
