Looks like they just suck at finding a vein to inject the drugs. If the criminals were IV drug abusers, those veins are fucking impossible to find if you're trying to inject them with something >_>

Or just... don't bother.

It costs more to execute a prisoner, usually two or three decades later, than it does to just warehouse him forever. Death penalty serves no useful purpose.

This also applies to black people. Very tough to find the vein on people with darker skin. Remember this from doing CLS (combat lifesaver basically first aid for non-medics) training in the Army.

The idea is that you need to prove beyond normal doubt to kill them. Obviously since 200 people were innocent who were killed this isn't perfect, which is why the death penalty is bad

Seems like this can be solved easily using the right kind of light and the right kind of camera. These devices have to exist, no?

since it costs less money and resources to house prisoners forever instead of enforcing the death penalty, i assume you're also advocating to abolish the death penalty.

No, I mean make the death penalty more cost effective and deliver it more efficiently. Anyway, not everything is always about cost, and let's not pretend that's what it's really about.

but the expensive part of the death penalty is all of the lawyers, courtroom time and paperwork, not the cost of the final procedure.

https://deathpenaltyinfo.org/policy-issues/costs

https://www.supremecourt.gov/opinions/urls_cited/ot2016/16-5247/16-5247-2.pdf

Enforcing the death penalty costs Florida $51 million a year above what it would cost to punish all first-degree murderers with life in prison without parole. Based on the 44 executions Florida had carried out since 1976, that amounts to a cost of $24 million for each execution.

if you are pro-DP, cost is not an argument you want to bring up.

And then will come the arguments about how keeping first-degree murderers in prison for life without parole makes no economic sense, is unnecessary, and is inhumane. The goalposts will just keep moving.

It's what happened in the UK as it moved towards abolition of the death penalty in 1965: at the time, concerns were allayed by reassuring the public that first degree murderers would spend the rest of their lives behind bars. But it simply wasn't the case. The reality is that whole-life terms for murder are rare: even some of the most brutal and sadistic murderers of small children (killers like Mary Bell, David McGreavy, Robert Thompson) have been freed to walk the streets: Thompson was released after only 8 years. The slippery slope is real enough, and some people just love greasing it.

Give victims and their families justice either by locking up subhuman pieces of filth (like the one who murdered my friend for a fucking bet) for the rest of their worthless lives. But if you're not going to do that, then just fucking kill the scum. Give them a lethal injection of peanut butter for all I care.

Im an eye for an eye kind of person, but with the way the system is handled its just not reliable enough. too many errors and too many human elements are involved. unless you have some infallible way of finding out who is 100% guilty and who is not, the death penalty should be done away with unless the person is flat out admitting it and smiling to the familys in court.

that said, a .357 bullet is .70cents and has a way more effective rate.

I think rope is supposed to be less "inhumane" than decapitating someone. At least if we're talking drop gallows and not "hanged from the neck until dead", which is kind of more like torture I guess.
