What if they had Joker vanish for a long time. Meanwhile a new character shows up. Barbara has a new college teacher that she forms a bond with. They become friends. He's like a mentor to her. He's a recurring side character in her life for years. We still don't see Joker Then one day we find out that Joker got cured somehow and created a new identity after his sanity returned. Barbara's teacher. This would be set in the same continuity as Killing Joke and New 52. Meaning in this universe, Joker did paralyze Barbara and then she recovered later. So they have that history together Joker remembers everything. Barbara eventually finds out who her teacher is and I think it woukd be interesting if she accepts his new identity and forgives him ... I would want to see one where hes still the Joker, but sort of mellows out after he falls in love with a middle aged single mother.
