Rudy Giuliani previously had his law licenses suspended in NY and DC. Last week, the DC Bar had a disciplinary hearing for him where they're supposed to decide on whether he'll be disbarred or not.

I listened to some of it. Rudy Giuliani was, predictably, a mess. He was doubling down on the validity of the claims in the election lawsuits he filed, admitted he didn't bother to substantiate any of the claims due to "a limited amount of time remaining," and was argumentative at times.

At one point, he pointed out that he had accidentally put on two watches one day during the hearing, which was random AF.

He needs to be disbarred.

Nah, suspended is a temporary status. Disbarred means it's revoked, and any other state you have a license in is also revoked.

I have a sinking feeling that he will get through with his license reinstated.

False election fraud claims that Rudy Giuliani made when he was representing former President Donald Trumps campaign in 2020 should make the former New York mayor liable for professional sanctions, an attorney disciplinary committee said Thursday.

The decision by the hearing committee for the DC Bars Board on Professional Responsibility is preliminary and non-binding. After another round of hearings in front of the committee, the proceedings then move to the board and eventually to DCs local court of appeals, the final arbiter on whether Giuliani should be sanctioned.

Apparently this hearing was simply the ethics board deciding on whether he violated rules or not, and they just ruled that he did. There will apparently be another round of hearings and then the board, and then DC's local court of appeals. So we probably won't know what penalty he'll face for quite a while, I'm guessing.

The D.C. Bar's disciplinary counsel recommended Thursday that Rudy Giuliani be disbarred after a hearing panel tentatively determined he likely violated at least one professional conduct rule in his efforts to overturn the 2020 presidential election in Pennsylvania.
The panel said its determination was preliminary and nonbinding, and because of that it declined to specify what rule Giuliani, who contested the election results as former President Donald Trumps lawyer, had likely violated. It will release a final decision in several weeks, after hearing recommendations related to what discipline Giuliani should receive, assuming the preliminary finding stands.

The DC Bar counsel is recommending that he be disbarred, but I guess the final decision isn't up to the panel that conducted this hearing.

No, but it would greatly hinder his ability to be licensed in other states. Character and fitness folks don't fuck around.
