People will make references to celebrities that you were sure are household names and then explain who that person is because the audience might not know. I guess they...were household names, 30 years ago.

I just heard a video where the narrator said - "And I turned on the TV and a Tina Turner documentary was on. If you don't know who that is, she's an 80s american popstar"

I guess she...was a household name, 30 years ago.

I'm finding this, work with some young people off and on at my job, best ones ive heard that people didnt know who I meant included The Beatles, OJ Simpson and Wayne Gretzky.

All of those took me back for a second.

Now I know how my parents felt when they'd make a reference to some famous comedian from the silver screen and I wouldn't know who that was, lol

I feel like I can forgive the others to a point, but I dont know how people wouldnt know The Beatles.

I think one of the biggest changes to the musical landscape now is there's really no exposure to things you don't immediately want to listen to. Like maybe we only heard of the beatles because they were always on radio, or being used in the kinds of movies we liked to watch, or on MTV.

But now kids can just curate their own playlist comprised entirely of things they want to listen to.
