I don't have the time to complete them when every game is fucking running them

If they are using pay to win, then move onto another game.

If they are not, just don't worry about it. I promise you'll get that stuff and never care about it. It's fun unlocking stuff, but doesn't change anything really.

battle pass is just "europe compliant" lootboxes.

Battle passes in paid games are absolute bullshit, there's no excuse for shit practices like this.

I don't know a ton about this stuff so maybe I'm wrong but I thought Battle Passes were "if you reach this level then you'll unlock this thing". That seems v different to lootboxes which are "get a random item and keep doing it until you get what you want".

A dollar for a lootbox, versus thirty dollars for a lot of lootboxes.

The Halo battle passes are fine as there isn't a time limit on them but all the other ones can get fucked

Rite m8 but I think you're missing the obvious difference which is that with a lootbox you don't know what you're going to get. "Thirty dollars and you will get exactly these items" vs "Thirty dollars and you might not get anything you want". The reason that lootboxes have drawn the ire of regulators in Europe is because it's basically seen as a form of gambling.

Or are there battle passes where the levelled rewards you get are lootboxes? The only game I've played with a Battle Pass is Overwatch 2 and there are no lootboxes there.

Diablo 4 will probably be the first game i ever play that uses a battle pass. Still don't think I fully understand how they work. I wonder if diablo 4 should be treated like an mmo instead and use have a monthly sub. They said it will have new content often. Just do a subscription and don't make us jump through hoops with the battle pass

If you play enough in a certain time frame otherwise no and a bunch different games are doing this so you won't have time

With a battle pass you basically just do stuff in game to reach a milestone in the pass and it gives you a reward for each milestone you hit.

I am surprised everyone is just now noticing a lot of games are utilizing battle pass practices. It's definitely getting out of hand. Battle passes are not as bad as loot boxes, but they are pretty close. Far too many games are pushing hard on the FOMO, flashing limited skins and cosmetics at you, forcing you to spend more time on a game than you would like in order to obtain the rewards. Even great games like FFXIV has a battle pass. It's absurd.
