The new Netflix show is now out and, imo, is pretty damn decent.

It might not reach the heights of Arcane or Edgerunners, but still a very good one - if a few faults. Pacing definitely feels a bit off, most notable in the first episode, but likely due to only being 6 episodes.

Also wonder how much those who don't know the lore will fully get everything, or if some of the missed references won't matter.

But it has a very enjoyable cast, stellar voice acting and good animation. The fights are fun, the magic is superb and they don't hold back on showing how fucked up Tevinter is with its blood magic, necromancy and slavery.

What part of the story is it about?

I know a bit of the lore, (played all 3 games multiple times) but far from a specialist...(i have not read the novels) and id like some more easily accesable content.... espicially since its been 8 years since the last game, 7 since the last DLC.

It's set after Trespasser and involves a new cast (save Fairbanks) undertaking a task for what remains of the Inquisition.

Makes me curious, from the ending, if this will lead to a 2nd season or stuff being resolved in Dreadwolf.

Is it similar to Dawn of the seeker, i recall watching that.

Arcane is League of Legends, and Edgerunners is Cyberpunk

We don't speak of Dawn of the Seeker. This new show is actually good, with decent animation, story and antagonists.

And yeah, there are some very interesting revelations revealed from the show. Also some nice gay/lesbian representation, as to be expected. And of course heartbreak, because what is a Bioware related product without that?

Bioware have long had lgbt representation, and heartbreak. (sometimes at the same time) So it's an expected thing in their products at this point.

Same here, youre not alone atleast.

Gameplay wise, Origins is actually my least favorite. Animations feel a bit... stiff. Still an okay game with a good story and good characters, but the more smooth animations of the sequels is definitely a plus for me.

I distinctly recall the first time i beat the story, and saw the credits... and i was just utterly mindfucked by the revelations towards the end. Wild fucking ride man.

Yeah. It rates for me as one of the best DLCs out there.

Just watched the series. Treated it like a 3 hour movie. Pretty good. . Birch as the Qunari was pretty rad. She did great.

Starting Episode 5 now... and damn, i hope i get to see some of these guys in DA4.

There isnt a "Show" exactly, but a movie. Also Animated (dubbed by funimation), and aproximately as long as 3,5 episodes of absolution (Absolution is 6 episode 25 minutes long, intro included), the Mass Effect movie is 84 minutes

Yeah... and the whole Lyrium is giants blood thing

I mean, it was somewhat partially foreshadowed earlier, since in order for Lyrium to be "Blighted" IE "Red" it would have to be alive in some way, but still...

Before.

Trespasser is epiloge dlc and takes place iirc 5 years after the main story.

And oncw you start trespasser the rest of the game locks... because timeskip. Something you are fully warned about tho.

That's probably enough then really. There are only vague references and not sure how much of "the lore" you actually need to know as they do a pretty good job of explaining what needs to be explained.

This show definitely assumes you know whats what with the lore; knowing something about whos who from previous games definitely helps. The OG voice actors come back for some of those roles and its all a little exciting.

Even with all that, this show switches stuff up a bit. Like a light hearted Qunari mage who giggles and doesnt seem hung up on free will, but you know, things changeno biggie.

Perhaps itll work like Cyberpunks show and people will want to playdust off some old games before the next entry comes out.

I played the trilogy last year... finished trespasser between christmas and nye.

...might do another run before dreadwolf drops... but id need a release date to plan that.

Hearing the voice actress for Mass Effect's Ashley voicing the protagonist is really throwing me off haha.

I'm only watching the first episode now but at least one of these characters is gonna be a party member in Dreadwolf right? I'm thinking the Qunari Mage? Gotta be with Burch as the VA.

Finished it and liked it! My Dragon Age knowledge is rusty. Had to look up who that was supposed to be in the cliffhanger. Now I get it haha.

The only weird thing is this seems like a show that would usually only be a few months before the new game. I wonder when it'll come out. EA has been doing that thing lately where they say nothing until it's only a few months away.

As for release. I heard the game hit alpha a couple weeks ago..and apparently that means it is playable from start to finish.

Whilst i dont know when the devs began making the game.. i could see it releasing in like 1-2 years
