I've been hyped for a while

spending 2000 dollars on a graphics card to play a 15 year old, 2 hour game.

jk this is pretty cool. sometimes i kinda wish i had an RTX card

but then i think about all the money

The thing about RT is that whether or not you think it's worth the big performance cost, it does look pretty amazing.

Boy it runs pretty badly on my laptop at native res (1600p)

I can get 60fps at 1920x1200, so that's nice

It's a shame it doesn't support DLSS 2.0, since 3.0 doesn't work on the RTX 3000 series

Gonna snag it and then let it collect virtual dust until I upgrade from my 2070 Super since I don't want my computer to explode

It does look beautiful. But it's hallways and shit. Hope they do Half-Life 2 RTX.

I don't have the gear to run any of this stuff, anyway.

Kinda surprised at how poorly it runs on a top of the line 3080 laptop GPU. Mine benches around a desktop 3070 and it definitely can't hold a good frame rate above 1080p

Runs great on my system! I love this!

I can get a solid 45-60fps at 1440p

It doesn't look any RT settings can be adjusted, so you get what you get

Oh I just discovered if you press Alt-X You can change the DLSS settings performance, instead of quality, the visuals look the same but you get almost double the framerate

Guess that's another excuse to play through again.

ya boi (spoilers: me) snagged a 4090 FE at MSRP and no tax or S&H from the military exchange site. CC charged for 1599 exactly

Arriving tomorrow but it's a paperweight until I get a new PSU. And then gimme all of the raytracing

What I don't understand is that I can choose the option for DLSS 3.0 even though I have an RTX 3000 card. It's not supposed to support that.

I heard it is poorly optimized.

btw Portal was the first steam game I ever owned.

Sort of. The default settings are basically max everything, and the menu to change them is actually hidden behind a command (Alt+X)

If you change the DLSS to performance, it seems to run pretty well. But it definitely doesn't run as well as it should considering I have the literal best GPU you can buy on a laptop.

Oh good to know about the Alt+X command. I was reading that they were recommending the 3080 for 1080p, 60 fps. Which is terrible lol. Sounds like that can be fixed a bit though.
