For me it's the anime adaptation of Pluto, one of the most incredible manga I've ever read. The anime was announced in 2017. A grainy recording of a REALLY cool looking trailer was shared in 2019, but no official announcements since. https://twitter.com/aelen_altria/status/1138769549262639104

A few months ago, the settei (character/model sheets) went up on Yahoo Auctions briefly. This usually means a project has been cancelled, but the studio founder said in a (now deleted) tweet that the project is still in production. So idk whats up

I feel like I can't die til this comes out or is officially cancelled I love Naoki Urasawa's manga soo much and it would make me so happy for other people to experience his work. I'm so convinced this will be a masterpiece when it finally happens

Its difficult to say its in Media Hell, since its only been rumored, but there was apparently plans for a Kingdom Hearts Disney+ show. At first I had pretty much 0 interest, but then I watched this:

And I felt like if the series could have alternative takes even somewhat close to this, it could actually be interesting and worth watching. But again, the D+ stuff hasnt gone further than rumors.

Guillermo del Toro's At the Mountains of Madness has been in development hell for for almost 2 decades.

He recently posted this VFX test from over a decade ago. It was super close to being greenlit but was cancelled after I think Prometheus did poorly and the studio thought it would be too similar.

damnn that looks really cool. If it has been cancelled, it's too bad we rarely get to see most of the work that was done on a project

speaking of Del Toro, apparently he pitched a live-action adaptation of Monster (another amazing Urasawa work) to HBO that was turned down. Would be fucking amazing if that gets picked up someday too
