Sounds like its best he left if he was taking this website that seriously. Its just a video game forum that most people frequent when theyre bored. Its not that serious. And people have been talking shit to each other constantly for decades thats never going to change.

R*ddit mods are even more and unpredictable than the mods here lol

I hate that you guys keep making me defend the mods here but it's obvious that the people who thinks the mods here are the worst have never been to any other community out there.

Site slowly been dying, but oddly it feels like an artifact worth preserving just for some of the old guides here

It's the only community I regularly visit and there's enough content to be appealing. Movie and TV boards have led me to lots of good stuff. Game boards usually have what I'm looking for, and I still use guides here. I often prefer text to video, or maybe I'm just old.

GameFAQs problem is not the mods, but the community. I hate how the same obvious bait topics are bit on everytime. Stop fucking engaging the obvious trolls and they will eventually stop coming back here and shitting up the boards

I only visit this board now which I don't find bad regarding toxicity. The main platform boards are a lot worse though for sure.

ive been a part of some communities on discord that I had to flee because I couldn't handle their toxicity. Id say their level of toxicity was 10x worse than here because people were getting doxxed and there is more shit talking on voice and video. I can empathize with him well if his feelings on gamefaqs mirrors how I felt on certain discord channels . It can suck pretty bad

This site is a relic of the past. If you want a social connection there is Facebook, TikTok, Twitter, etc. If you want to talk about games there is Reddit. If you want help with video games there is Youtube and wikis.

There isnt really much to get out of the forum/site these days that you cant get at places that get more traffic or are better for what you need.

The absence of usermap and IP bans destroyed this website's community but no one truly ever gave a shit about it so this is just the natural way of progression.

And although this place does give you a platform to talk about almost everything, IMO, it shouldn't be the ultimate social platform for anyone to use. There are much better places than a dying video game websight to talk about social issues and politics.

I think the community overall has gotten a lot better. There were so many fucking gatekeepers and elitism that would roam free with their hostility but now elitism will get you modded now, for example LMGTFY is now moddable on GameFAQs. Telling people who are asking for help to "do their own research" or to use Google or use the search function is heavily frowned upon.

You even get a warning before using LMGTFY

Like, reviewer clout comes from knowing where they're coming from. You can safely write off any scotty topic because you know he is a broken entity. Gamefaqs allows for community, knowing your peers, rather than the more faceless and transient nature of things like reddit.
