are you MtF? if so, have you explained this to your doctor after having the surgery?

going months without trying again seems like a long time
id imagine if hes pretty thick it's something youd have to regularly get used to, and a long period of inactivity would just be a repetition of the same pain rather than an advancement towards comfort
theres dilation aids you can use that might help to work your way up to being comfortable
ive also heard being on top or at least in a position where you control the amount/frequency of penetration can make it more comfortable
