I've been watching Season 11 of Doctor Who, and so far, I can't understand why everyone rated the episodes so low and hated Jodi Whittaker as the Doctor. The first episode was kind of dreadful---but they all had dreadful first episodes except Matt Smith. And anyone who has watched a lot of Doctor Who knows that the episodes are very uneven and that sometimes the wacky ideas they try just don't work. Whittaker's kinder, happier Doctor makes a nice change from Capaldi, and while I don't love every episode so far, it's delivering something new every time the Doctor pulls that TARDIS lever, all with a dash of strong and positive morals. I mean, unless Whittaker and the production team got harassed to the point that everything goes off the rails later on, the worst that can happen is that an episode sucks balls (and, again, every Doctor featured a string episodes that guzzled balls and we can't always agree on which), and then the Doctor will go back into her magic box and the next episode will be different. I was a little upset that Capaldi didn't get another season with some better episodes (out of New Who, he probably had the largest number of horrid episodes), but I love this new Doctor and am kind of sad I waited so long to start watching her. Every episode is different, every season is slightly different, and each new regeneration brings us a different facet of one larger, more multifaceted character. What's not to like? Other than stupid reasons, probably the most valid reason would be the lore arc is pretty bad. That said her final season is fun as hell, so it's mostly sexism that would place her as worse. --- It's all true. ... Copied to Clipboard!
