I have no recollections of this at all. If anything, I remember my teachers telling me all throughout school that Nelson Mandela was still alive. I seem to be the only person in the world who doesn't have this false memory of him dying in prison in the 1980s. Other Mandela effect things apply to me like the black tip on Pikachu's tail or "mirror mirror on the wall," but not Nelson Mandela. Of all the things in the world to name the effect after, why him? Am I the only one who genuinely remembered him dying in 2013?

same. I remember him being released and it was a huge deal at the time. I never had any thoughts of him dying until he actually did.

Ehh I can't recall ever thinking he was dead as a child. I do remember black tip tail Pikachu though.

Remember how marty needed 88 mph in the first movie and then in the 2nd movie he didnt need roads and then in the 3rd movie he didnt need plutonium.

I remember him getting out of prison in 1990 because it was big news back when I was about 11. I never heard this stuff about him dying in prison until reading about it online over the last couple of years.

Why would non black people in the West even know about him if that happened.

I always knew he was alive and was the president of South Africa, but didn't know about being imprisoned or how significant he was until maybe a decade before he died.
