(8 seed) Tennessee vs (9) Kansas State -> (1) Georgia
(5 seed) TCU vs (12) Tulane -> (4) Utah

(7 seed) Alabama vs (10) USC -> (2) Michigan
(6 seed) Ohio State vs (11) Penn State -> (3) Clemson

-4 of the 6 conference champs get a bye
-other 2 are re-seeded with 6 at-large
-Only difference is, many conferences will do away with the division format, leading to different conference title games (2024 and beyond)

It's going to be great, I've always wanted a tournament like this.

kind of. from a pure football perspective, sure. but i'm not sure i like the idea of these kids playing up to four more weeks of football between the holidays, around finals, and during what had been a break.

Should've been 8 especially with how so many players are dealing with season ending injuries nowadays but w/e

Its funny because the playoff was a result of people thinking that the top 2 werent always the best teams and now the format will make it more likely the best team doesnt end up winning

true, but if they're making a title run (required for the full four games) doubt they're complaining

8 would have been good but Im alright with expanding the teams in general.

Should be 8. Theres too many teams that cant ever hang with the top dogs.

but anything is better than the four teams they have now

I think 12 is most fair for the one non power five team, 8 would have felt a little small to let them in consistently. Same for bad power five champs.

I'm gonna hold off on judging till I see it in action.

Bowl games also feel like a disappointment for a lot of teams that wanted to make the playoffs as it is now so hopefully this improves that somewhat.

As someone who likes watching college football, just a fan. I like it. As someone who knows first hand that stress that sports can put on you while you are in college. I don't like it.

12 is too many. Hell, this year, we don't even need 4 teams.

The playoff was a result of media lobbying for a format with more games which would make them more money.

Alabama doesn't make it one year and they expand the playoffs...

It's good from a football perspective.
It's bad from a "making a bunch of unpaid kids play even more unpaid games, except these games make even more money than normal" perspective.

Its honestly not, these games will give more players more exposure for NIL deals

Maybe some select players on these teams might get paid by third parties is not sufficient.
