I get going back to them once in a while but some dudes literally still play old ass games every day as their main games. you played that shit for half your life bro you cant tell me that you cant find at least one modern game you like theres so amny epic games that come out every year to just play a game you played to death already

I kinda get it. I play the same games over and over again. I only have 25 games atm. They aren't old but one day they will be.

What if I'm only now playing an old game for the first time because I had mashed potatoes for a brain when it first came out?

You could make the same argument with music. New music comes out every day and some people just like listening to the same stuff they liked in high school.

Video games can have a similar nostalgia. Hence why i bought the ps2 gta trilogy on ps4 and played thru them all again.

I don't get it either. Retro games are fun sometimes but there's so much good new stuff to experience. Having said that I've never really been one to reread/watch/play stuff unless it's been several years.

I mean, there's even so many good, retro-inspired games now if you just like that style.

I play Doom 2 more than any other game.

I felt like this for a long time. But now Ive been playing 80% older stuff for the last month. I got a Switch and as soon as my cousin showed I had access to SNES and NES, I got wrapped up on them lol

PS1 jrpgs are my weakness. Nostalgia feels good. I usually play them high too so it does kind of feel like new experience mixed with nostalgia. I had a blast on my recent FF9 playthrough. Might do a Saga game or Legend of Mana next

I don't do multiple runs of games anymore. Despite having more games now, I have less time and interest and I was a broke kid back then...

You can't understand that there are people who think modern games suck? Have you not been paying attention to all the complaints of handholding, DLC, microtransactions, and homogenization over the years?

It really isn't. Everyone's experiences are subjective, and there is more to life than games. I got a lot of shit in the past for sticking to Nintendo only consoles and had that "fear of missing out" speech given to me many times. Yeah there's plenty of games that aren't in Nintendo consoles I wished I had on Nintendo consoles, but in the end it didn't matter. I never cared about owning multiple consoles..I didn't have the attention span either.

Outside of mobile Pogo, I actually talk more about games and consoles than playing them.

I totally get it. You read a book and then then the movie wins you over or not.

It's like you can't realize that other people have different opinions from you. Not everyone likes older games, not everyone likes newer games. What's the issue? I prefer older games, but I can still see how people might like newer ones, despite the flaws I see in them.

Just picked up the TMNT Cowabunga collection for PS5, gonna be a nice nostalgic trip

Not really though. You're the one who "doesn't understand people who still play old games." I understand why people play newer games. I just don't agree with them.

You can say "I know you are but what am I" until the cows come home, but I'm rubber and you're glue, so there.

If it gives them joy and fun that's all that matters. They're also saving a lot of money so go them.

I play the really, really good old games.

Old WRPGs have especially aged well, imo, but only if you really like roleplaying.

I literally just got done replayed FF9 for the 20th time.

I still regularly play hom&m3 which after twenty plus years still has an active online community.

I kind of get it because a lot of modern games is not everybodys cup of tea. a lot of big name games are like movies and not everyone likes that.
