It feels weird putting Celeste in with more traditional platforms because of how brutally difficult it is. Super meat boy kind of falls into the same problem. It's like they're in a brand new genre of 2D game but there aren't enough of them yet to wrap a title around it in the way that metroidvanias have even though they are technically still 2D platformers.

Celeste and Hollow Knight are kinda post-3D era. There's an expectation of great 2D indy games that wasn't around during N64/PSX era.
