since WW2 was a direct influence to the Empire in Star Wars I think the answer would be found on how the average German felt during that time period. If I had to choose an answer on your poll I would definitely say no.

In the EU it could actually be debatable for human colonized worlds and some war torn segments of the galaxy.

The movies don't cover it much but The Last Jedi video game does

Basically the worlds within the empire become sweatshops with low pay and no rights to keep gathering resources for the Empire.

Also we see the huge celebration in Return of the Jedi when the empire is toppled

Now the universe is so huge, I'm not sure if there is an "average" person. Would be like saying was Donald Trump good for the average person on Earth?

Planets outside of the empire probably didn't notice and life on Coruscant was likely very different to life in other Empire planets. Hell people outside of coruscant didn't even know the Emperor was an ugly scaly freak

The movies (prequels especially) definately missed out on not showing the effects of the war and the empire on Joe Q.

I always think of Red Letter Media pointing out that they didn't even lower the amount of cars flying in the background on coruscant in Episode 2 and 3.

Create that galactic empire first.
