Whats the actual difference and what do you prefer?

The last time I tried marinara is was much sweeter than tomato sauce and I wasn't sure if thats how its usually made or just that restaurant.

The only real difference between the two is that marinara is actually thinner

marinara has carrot in it. the carrot makes it sweet

plain tomato sauce on pasta is called pomodoro sauce

I only ever dip stuff in marinara. I don't think it would be the same if it was tomato sauce, but maybe I'm wrong.
