I miss Linux from my college days and might go back to it (using Mint in a Virtual Machine right now). Might scour facebook marketplace after Christmas when people get new computers to see if anything good/used pops up. My Mac is a good experience because it's Unix based unlike stupid shitty fucking Windows, but it's really locked down and I miss the freedom of Linux.

What do you use and on what hardware?

Desktop Linux is still a tremendous pain in the ass to actively use full-time, and specifically if you use media creation software (Adobe Creative Suite) and play games.

I like Linux but I wouldn't recommend it. If you want to try it out, go for distros like Ubuntu or Fedora; the latter being a very stable "vanilla" experience.

I don't really. I used CentOS, Knoppix, Ubuntu, Red Hat, and there was one for an ethical hacking I can't remember the name.

Just not big on it.

Programming for work, yes. Ubuntu mainly.

Nowadays I use Ubuntu in WSL2, so I get the best of both worlds and never have to deal with Macs.

Ideally I'd dual boot with stupid fucking Windows for the few games I play (Civ and C&C). I can't speak to adobe stuff, but I mostly want to work through some programming stuff and some SQL that I'd like to brush up on. Prefer Mint to Ubuntu and Fedora because the DE is better (I know you can run whatever DE on whatever distro, but Cinnamon works better oob with Mint than Ubuntu and Fedora and I value the oob experience). Manjaro has a good Cinnamon implementation as well as Pacman, which is a big draw too.
