I unexpectedly managed to snag a God of War Ragnarok bundle on Amazon because they sent me an invitation to purchase one earlier this week. I'm trying to figure out what games I want to buy for it at present. Most of the games I'm really anxious to play are set to release next year, such as Final Fantasy XVI and Jedi Survivor. The Silent Hill 2 Remake is likely to release next year too. But that leaves me trying to figure out some good entry PS5 titles.

I like a lot of different genres, but am especially partial to action RPGs, survival horror games, and some third person shooters (like Uncharted). What comes to mind as a great thing to purchase and play after the new God of War game?

As far as God of War goes, I haven't actually played that series before, and am not sure whether Ragnarok is a good place to start. I've heard it is excellent, but I have no idea how story driven it is and whether it is necessary to play the 2018 title before diving into Ragnarok. What say you?

Theres a 2018 recap when you start Ragnarok. Id pick it up if you see it on sale(assuming its playable on ps5)

Multi gen that's recentish: I'm playing through Horizon:FW atm and it's fantastic. Shame it was overshadowed by Elden Ring, which is also great

Thats how I got my disc version a year ago, but got an email invite to buy because they were scarce then

Interesting, glad that it is finally getting easier for people to pick them up. I was holding out for either an in-store purchase option or for Amazon Prime delivery.

I'm interested in both. I've had a PS4 for a long time though and ended up not buying games like Elden Ring just because I thought I'd get a PS5 soonish, and wanted to hold out for the better console experience. It'd be nice to have at least one completely next gen title though. Ratchet & Clank could actually be a good choice since I quite like the older PS2 games in that series.

It was well-packaged and in good shape when it arrived earlier today, so there were fortunately no issues on this front. Now I just have to get through the tedious process of transferring most of my PS4 data to PS5.

Does anyone know much about the FFVII Remake additional episode? I own the PS4 version of that game and would like to play interregnum now that I have a PS5. Can I just purchase the PS5 episode separately and still rely primarily on my PS4 game disc, or do I need to purchase the PS5 disc to play interregnum?

I second the recommendation for Ratchet and Clank Rift Apart. Fun game.

Another game that pretty much everyone agrees new PS5 owners should try is Astro's Playroom. It comes free with the console and is not only a great showcase of what the dual sense controller can do, it's also a fun platformer filled with Playstation references

Its extremely story driven. You should at least play the 2018 game.

I kinda wish I had waited to get the God of War: Ragnarok bundle instead of rushing and getting the Call of Duty bundle.

Apparently I am in luck because it looks like I picked up the 2018 game via PS+ at some point. I forgot that it was offered as a free monthly title with the plus subscription. It might be nice to start with a real PS5 game before doing anything else with the console, though, so maybe I'll look into some other games before getting into God of War.

If you haven't already played it on the PC already then buy the PS5 version of final fantasy 7 remake. That game is so much more enjoyable with the smooth 60fps and fast loading.

Also the yuffie dlc is pretty fun.
