Whopper with cheese was always something separate on the menu as far back as I can remember. And I've never even had a burger from there. It's just such an iconic sandwich.

God I wish. When I'd eat from burger king 20 years ago they'd always put cheese on even if I specifically request a burger with no cheese they still put it on.

Did you know that 60 years ago the mcdonlads burger by default had no cheese, that cheese was only added way later
