Agreed. I've always thought he was a dogshit lyricist who displayed his ego and narcissism in basically every song he wrote, and I found his production to be good but over-rated. Overall his shit seemed pretty corny to me.

I'd say it makes sense to say you like his music but still choose to not listen to it.

Makes less sense to suddenly say his music was never good, when you used to like it
But I understand everyone has a different connection with music that influences those ideas

yea i mean i agree you can separate artist from art if you want (or don't i think it's w/e u want)

but kanye, specifically, i thought he was self aware, trying to make ironic statements. i read some good essays people wrote about his use of the sacred and profane. i thought his clothes fucking sucked, but i respected his accomplishments in the fashion world (i like high fashion).

yeezus i thought was fucking genius. but, as others have said, that song black skinhead was literally just about him being a nazi so fuck that guy.

what in the actual fuck this is a real conversation in the timeline.

I don't know if I can even enjoy his music anymore. I've always thought I could remove artists from their bullshit outside of their art but it's tainted and just makes me sad now

It's a shame, the first musician I've been a big fan of that I've truly had this dilemma. Guy made some banger albums back in the day.

I actually only found out it was him like a month or so ago during a topic here. I had heard it before once or twice and didn't know who arranged it. I never cared for his early works. That whole "I'm a genius, voice of a generation" thing was nonsense to me and even though I'm a college dropout too lol, (and probably bipolar), I never connected with his music. I didn't hate it at first, but he clowned his own ass so fucking much... I don't even know lol
