There were always going to be narrative issues with ending a story like that (and losing your lead writer) in just one game, but setting that aside, it was clearly less polished, the mission design was not nearly as good as 2s, they released it in an unfinished state with key elements of the game reserved for DLC (in one case leaving an absolutely critical part as on-disc DLC which was awful), and while I like the idea of multiple ways to play the game, action mode (which for some reason was the default option) resulted in the dialogue options being significantly lessened. Also the multiplayer was fine for what it was, some people loved it even, but mandating people play multiplayer to get all the endings, in the era of the online pass, was a poor move. They did patch that to be fair. Overall the game was clearly hampered by EAs bad business practices and attempts to get it to appeal to an audience that was never especially interested. With that said, I liked the game! It really feels like it would benefit the most from Legendary Edition in particular. The game at the end of its life cycle with all the patches and DLC was significantly better than the state it launched in.
