So yesterday I was sent to help out with a different department. Supervisor covered work I normally would be doing.

One of the main things is a test that has a part that is consumed over time. There is a similar part that we only had one of for unusual testing. Supervisor used that part instead of the normal part. Test results very abnormal but I guess he ignored it. Today I did the first test of the day. Noticed numbers were weird. Also how the test was going just seemed off. Checked with boss. He noticed it was wrong part.

Heard him tell supervisor about it. Said thankfully I caught it before finishing the test. Supervisor instead of owning it basically said well why do we store that one by the others. Ignoring the fact that he just copied the old lot number and exp date from a previous one. There were multiple spots he could have realized something was wrong. But instead he blamed where it was stored.

Finished mine. Numbers are weird, but I guess boss will have to fill out something to explain discrepancy.

Supervisor has been very difficult. He doesn't seem to want to train me. Doesn't explain anything when he is "showing me something"

Lectured me yesterday about how I don't know anything about what we were talking about. How could I know when you don't train/explain?

I wonder if he's intentionally not training me because he thinks he's being replaced or something.

Hey are you me? My boss is self trained in IT / networking and expects the same from me. Which is fine (Im also self trained on practices and protocols and hold my own just fine), except Ill randomly get lectured / bitched at about not doing something the way he would.

Like, how the fuck am I supposed to know you close this oddly specific port range by default because of one instance you had a breach and essentially fucked up? Maybe explain the scenario and be cordial instead of calling me into your office and yelling about how Im causing vulnerabilities in the network.

I'm like one foot out the door. I need to have a sit down with my boss and supervisor about stuff. This week isn't great for it, have an external audit.

Only been here about a month. But I leave work every day just feeling defeated. It's draining to feel like that every day.

Well it's more complicated than that. My boss is the lab manager, so he's in charge of making sure documentation is accurate. He barely has time to actually be in the lab. My supervisor is in charge of production chemistry.

So they're closer to being coworkers almost I guess. I was hired by my boss to be my supervisor's assistant.

It's weird.
