I honestly didn't spare a thought over the Hookshot being absent in BotW. It was great when it was first introduced in LttP, and OoT did an excellent job bringing the mechanic into 3D, but it lost its luster in the subsequent games. WW was the worst offender, only giving it to you at the ass-end of the game and considerably limiting the number of surfaces it could attach to. Dual Hookshots in TP was a gimmick that didn't particularly wow me either (and again, offered too late in the game to really make an impact).
