Elden Ring

All of them

Elden Ring by a large margin. I've played all their games and like them all for different reasons, but I'd be totally happy with them going back to linear legacy dungeons.

Sekiro

One of the best things about Soulsborne is finding your own way to beat the game and fight. Sekiro removed all that and while it was alright, it is a step below the others.

Whichever one is considered the best by the most will automatically win as most overrated. Dumb question.

I think they all pretty fair. I didnt care much for sekiro but it's still objectively a solid game.

the first Dark Souls, IMO.

the other games in the franchise do the same thing, but better, and are more consistent in quality throughout, whereas DS' goes on a decline during its second half.

the only reason why I rank it higher than DS2 is because there's more "weight" to the boss fights in the first game between the two, and DS2's mobs could get to be frustrating.

They are all basically high difficulty hardcore sweaty gaming porn, probably the single player equivalent of competitive gaming where bragging rights and trying to overcome high adversity is the appeal to some people.

While that works for some, it doesn't for others. You really gotta have a drive to play games like that, and I have always preferred far more relaxing experiences.

i only played demon souls, dark souls, elden ring, and sekiro. i think the only game that is sweaty is stupid sekiro. i hate that game

the other games are just rpgs so can level up character and items to become OP. really fun time. Not much grinding either imo.

bloodborne. it's still dope af and one of their best games but people are really annoying about it.

Both are great but elden ring get boring after trying to do everything and dark souls 1 is not better than 3.

Elden Ring. Still good but it sacrificed a lot to be open world.

Bloodborne or Elden Ring. It doesn't really matter which since the others get flak where they deserve it more often than not.

It's probably bloodborne bc it's often regarded as the best despite lots of big flaws.

DS2 is obviously the overall worst.

I half disagree.
Yes Dark Souls 1 does heavily decline once the initial shock of Anor Londo is over. But no where else in the series will you find an interconnected world as good as DS1. It seemlessly connects its levels as well as the best Metroidvanias. The game always astounded me when I unlocked a gate or activated an elevator the path brought me back to a level I had previously been to.

Almost everyone always states DS2 as being the worst in the series though?
While simultaneously some do recognize it as a mechanical improvement to DS1 in everyway. Ugh but sooo many poison levels.

2 is one of those games that was rightly recognized as a big step down on release but has since become an internet darling amidst people with bad taste. its like the star wars prequels of video games

I feel like that's the edge I'd give it over the others, though how some areas end up connecting in Elden Ring ended up surprising me due to its open-world nature.

Bloodborne has the feral Sony fanboys going for it. Elden Ring is multiplat so any crazy fanaticism it has is likely to blow over much faster.

I will have to play that one, but I always wait till a game has been out for years and on heavy discount to save money (plus the huge backlog).

the closest i've seen to a coherent argument for 2 being the best is that it had the widest viable build variety for PvP by a large margin (i do not know if this is actually true)

otherwise yeah it's just people being vocal contrarians, it's your friend who thinks Batman v Superman was legitimately good and people Just Dont Get It

All Souls games is the same.

Overrated isnt a thing.

The baddest one is DS3 (or Elden Ring, havent played it).

the first dark souls. it's good, but people are way too easy on DS1 for the endgame. like, some of that is just BAD. Demon Ruins, Izalith, copypasted enemies and bosses, etc.

Bloodborne. People criticize the others from time to time, especially DS2. DS2 deserves the criticism, though not for the reasons people usually cite. But hardly anyone criticizes Bloodborne. Even its horrible framerate often goes unmentioned. As for Elden, I've seen people criticize it and haven't seen anyone really gush about it much since launch, unlike Bloodborne.

people were more forgiving towards bloodborne's framerate because every console souls game up until that point had had a terrible framerate. i see plenty of people asking for a pc port so that it can be more stable, or used to. seems like a lot of people are slowly giving up hope. i also see a lot of people complaining about build variety in bloodborne

Bloodborne doesnt have builds and its probably the biggest problem. You choose which half of the weapons you prefer or you do a silly Arcane/Bloodtinge gimmick to challenge yourself or shoot the shit.

Can I pick a game I haven't played? There is no chance an entry with shit like open world, mounts, crafting, summons, and no solo pvp can be anywhere near on par with Demon's and Dark Souls, even Bloodborne.

Nobody thinks DS2 is overrated. It's appropriately rated as the worst Souls game in the franchise.

3 was basically DS1 fanservice with prettier graphics and none of the poise.
