I think it's the only mainline Sonic game I haven't played yet, not counting Frontiers (yet)

I heard they changed the music, which I'm upset about, but we will see how it goes

Oh shit nevermind, there's a option for the original music right out the gate.

Normally I'd give remixes/remastered music a chance, but I've heard a few of the remixes already and they sound terrible

The original soundtrack is amazing, although that's not surprising in a Sonic game. I think I like Aquarium Park and Asteroid Coaster the most

The script is pretty bad but it's one of the better games

I remember this game being the one where they switched Voice Actors. Unfamiliar voices alongside bad dialogue pissed off a lot of sonic fans

So far the game is ok, made it to starlight carnival

Oh fuck its an open world game? I might have to check this out sometime. I would have eaten that up as a kid.

im still planning on Persona 5 first, but that will take up like 90% of my time for 3 straight months

Typically in the past, Sonic has not 'worked well' in the open world setting. I have not played Frontiers yet so i'll reserve judgement for now.

I didnt mind the open world in Sonic Adventure. In fact I loved it as a kid. But it hasnt aged very well

Sonic Colors is such an under appreciated game. I loved the new voice cast too (but mainly because I was not a fan of the Sonic X / Shadow the Hedgehog cast, aside from Mike Pollock).

Started playing it yesterday and Ive really been enjoying it. Its very different for a Sonic game, but its fun. Totally dig the music too.

So far the only thing that bothers me is that Sonics voice sounds a bit off. I dont know if thats just how he was directed to sound or if his heart just isnt in it anymore or what, but its a bit jarring.

Smith is deeper but at least he can act, unlike Griffith

I bought Colors Ultimate on PS4 and... I'm not sure why I did that since I still have my original Wii copy. I haven't played it yet but I understand they've ironed out most of the issues with Ultimate.

I also didn't care for a lot of the writing is Colors but outside of that it was a pretty solid game.

Colors was decent. Generations was great. Lost World and Forces were bad. Boom was garbage. Mania was basically the perfect 2D game. Frontiers is good, not great.

I haven't played Forces and I have mixed feelings about Lost World...

Ok, Lost World has some good stuff in it, some REALLY good stuff in it... but then it falls apart VERY quickly. I would only recommend the WiiU version because for some reason the special abilities are impossible to aim without the tablet controller (or, at least on the PC)

It commits one of my pet peeves where a villain refers to their own minions as "enemies"...

Made to Planet Wisp, and nearly completed it

If I'm being honest, I wasn't quite feeling the game until I did the first few Acts in Planet Wisp. Im kinda surprised by the # of alternate paths and hidden items.

Next is Aquarium Park

IIRC (its been almost 10 years I think), the power ups are what really make the game good. And you dont appreciate the power ups until you get into the game a little bit

Asteroid Coaster is next

That game has such an awesome soundtrack. Def need to replay it soon.

Ok I beat it, nice game, the gameplay grew on me in time

+ Level themes are great and varied
+ Top 5 Sonic Soundtrack, Planet Wisp being the highlight
+ The Spikes and Drill Wisps are the most fun
+ All levels are good except Starlight Carnival

- Sonic Unleashed had better controls. The jump felt weird at times, the drift is kinda unimportant and is def tacked on, and the homing attack often clashes with the need to double jump. Also don't know why they changed the quick step.

- Probably some of worst dialogue in the series. Sonic has never been huge on story/ dialogue but damn.
- Repeated bosses and they all suck
- Starlight Carnival is boring and very automated. At least Terminal Velocity is pretty much 1 level and boss

It's a 7.

I'm glad I was finally able to play it.

I played a lot of Sonic games this year. Not sure if I want to start Frontiers this year or next
