That sounds like a good idea for the first day or two.

And then problems start amplifying rapidly as even experienced yachtsmen have issues keeping their boats operational, and thats not even discounting that fact that theyre not trying to be self-reliant and without a friendly port.

Zombie Survival Guide also had a section about the dangers rapidly compounding for attempting to survive on the water during an outbreak.

You don't have to go out on the ocean, just find a lake and a pontoon boat, check your anchor line for lucky zombies every now and then and you'll be good for a while.

Wasn't there some TV show in the last 5 years or so where the literal plot was a zombie apocalypse ravages the world and the only survivors end up being a bunch of people on a submarine or some kind of battleship?

Gassing only provides buoyancy until there's a rupture.

The Last Ship was set in a postapocalyptic world, but it had a global viral pandemic instead of zombies.

It's follow up book, World War Z (not the abysmal movie) also had an entire chapter about a waterborne shanty town that sprung up during the outbreak.

i remember there was a scene in the book of an underwater welder, i think it was, being swarmed by zombies on the ocean floor, though i don't remember the details
