have you watched any Cronenberg? I've found that his use of body horror is quite similar, though I've only seen 2 of Cronenberg's movies so far

For how stylistic he is, his violence is brutally realistic when it wants to be (so not, like, the blood fountains in Kill Bill). No slow motion or people taking much more damage than they should be able to.
