not a movie, but there was an episode of Babylon 5 with a character that was a "Vicker", or an android that had recording software embedded in it that could record anything, even telepathic communication, and when they were explaining what it is, they had the main character state why it was called a "Vicker", basically stating something to the effect of that it was named after an "old obsolete Earth recording device" called the "VCR".

i guess if Babylon 5 was made when DVDs were a thing they would have called it a Divid?
