I make slightly more money adjusted for inflation, but they owned a home and had their two kids by my age. There is no way I can afford a home where I live without getting hit by a bus or winning the lottery.

My father was international director of an entire diplomatic core at 35 and I work as a menial software consultant for a small company in scotland. lmao.

I lucked into an abandoned flipper for $50k, in 2012, that my uncle's brother-in-law had laying around.
No apologies. My down payment was an absurd hoard of $2s.

Congrats! Everyone needs a little luck sometimes. No shame in that. Not sure I'd call it "luck", but my buddy was finally able to get his down payment when he inherited a nice chunk of change from his grandma passing.
