I doubt they haven't seen any. Even if you exclude domesticated animals and anything in the zoo, I'd bet most have at least seen birds.

I've seen a few deer in my area but I kind of live in the north part of the city, not the downtown area. Anyway Toronto has a lot of trees and shit so there is still quite a bit of animal life.
