To be fair, I was expecting the Welsh to be ranked lower than that.

We should've beaten Wales. I didn't watch, and Wales isn't trash like people think, but they aren't even close to the GOOD teams. If we had any aspirations to make it to the knockout stage, we absolutely should've beaten them.

Also the American's best player regularly rides the bench on Chelsea.

There are over 200 spots on the fifa ranking. Also fifa ranking are a joke. My country ecuador is rank 44 while iran and canada are higher. ELO rablnkings are more accurate

They be fair, TC said dominate if they give a damn. And I gotta agree, if our best athletes played futbol, instead of baseball, basketball, and egg ball, we would among the best.

They're going to have to completely overhaul their development system to get to the level in Europe.
Unlike the US model, European clubs sign talent when they're young children and develop and graduate them to the next level as they improve.

The best athletes in the US just don't play this sport and opt for American football, baseball or basketball instead. I don't understand why the everyone has such a hard time making such a simplistic realization.

The fair-weather football fans don't realize that clubs like Real Madrid or Barcelona have academies not just in Europe but all over the world.
These kids are signed early on and all they do growing up is play football against other academies and they just move on to the next age group if they're good enough.
USA is no where close to this with the MLS. All American prospects have to go through the USNMT program and then the NCAA.
If an American kid is scouted and good enough to be noticed by a European club, it's hard to sell it to their parents to move the kid to Europe to focus on football their whole adolescent to teenage cycle.

Remember Freddy Adu, Inter Milan wanted to sign him and develop him with adequate competition and state of the art training.
His mom said no cause she didn't want to uproot him.

i think it depends on what you mean by give a damn. Soccer has the problem of pricing out young urban athletes so our soccer youngsters get poached by mexico or just play other sports.

If US soccer put some money into it and built soccer fields in inner cities and got rid of pay to play then a lot of the 6 foot freak athletes might get poached from basketball and football.

but thats not going to happen and MLS and US soccer have conflicting strategies so it'll never work.

The MLS has academies idk what you mean. They have youth teams that play in the USL.

Also, most prospects dont play in the NCAA. Our better prospects get scouted by europe at young ages

MLS teams are free to sign academy players and not have them be subject to the draft.

thats not how it works man lol.

If a player is in the LA academy then LA can call him up. Draft only applies to players coming out of college.

They've done a really good job of this in hockey. The USNTDP has produced so many good players and unlike 20 years ago they aren't all from Minnesota.

But fact of the matter is that soccer is the 5th most popular sport in the US. Until that changes they won't touch teams like Brazil even with better infrastructure.

Love every 4 years Americans not only care about football but are experts.

Yeah, plus im sure the NHL and the national team have a similar interest since the NHL is the biggest hockey league in the world.

US Soccer wants its players in Europe and the MLS wants its young players in the MLS. The conflict causes dumb shit.
