Its not mandatory, I want it.
Its Friday 1pm-10pm, Saturday and Sunday 7am-10pm.

pros: I only work weekends every 4th week (once a month, only 12 weekends a year).

I get 2 days off before and after.

Its better for the people I take care of, most of them only have the same one taking care of them for more than 2 days, especially inportant since the dementia diseaes.

cons:
Its exhausting, mentally and physically, I used to be able power through it knowing the benifits I get.

For example the other option is work every other weekend, normal hours, still fri-sun, could also be sat-mon. But only one day off and before.

Another con is if I get sick I lose the weekend conpensation about $150.

But mostly I need to change my job, career whatever. Not there yet, I love my colleages and boss but I need a change.

I know first hand that dealing with this for long periods of time is extremely emotionally and mentally exhausting not to mention physically

Common sense says it may not taste good, but it'll make a turd.

Like 10 for me

I can't not do it though. I have some kinda weird hard-on for it

I think we're in slightly different fields though. I don't see dementia as much, but I see it enough that it's heart breaking

Oh so you work hours like me?

Ive worked in elder care for 18 years and 10 in dementia care (not in a home or facility, we go to their own appartments, houses etc usually by car).

Im pretty used to the heart breaking stuff, but its still sometimes hits me. So many sad situtatuons, so many family members Ive had to support with various stuff. But there is also much joy, and pride in how much good we have done.

Still I need to stop working in health care alltogether.

So you're like hospice and whatnot here in the states. I deal with those kinds all the time. I'm just a straight up caregiver though, I don't really have "hours." I'm on call for them at all times and don't really get any time off, but it's ok. Mostly

I was doing for up to 4 different old women throughout most of my... Career.... But I'm now down to 2 that are so precious to me that I won't take on any others as long as they're around

Maybe you should go back to school and get into something culinary
