It's pretty much agreed that RE1/2/3make are all superior to the OG PS1 games.

But RE4 isn't a PS1 game. It probably has more nostalgia and rose tinted glasses than any other game in history and to this day is widely beloved by people who played it as kids.

Are the awful clunky controls, QTEs, escort sections, Insectoids, long dull parts, inability to move when aiming, horrid camera, having to go into the menu to change weapon going to be smited by the RE4make's new modern more sleek design?

Or is the OG charm of the corniness, the leaping out windows, Leon's hilariously dialogue awkward exchanges, the jet-ski, etc all too enjoyable for a more serious adaptation to recreate?

Can the weirdly cool merchant be replicated?
Will it have the mecenaries mode?
Will the Krauser knife fights be as oddly homo-erotic?
Will it cut stuff out like RE3make did?
Will it have the shooting gallery mini-game?

What does CE Think?

I don't think anyone predicted RE2make to be as good as it was but that said, RE3make was a step down and Village while good wasn't as good as RE2make.... So who knows what's coming next.

I'm worried about the DLC it has.

Based on the trailer, no. Completely ruined the funny, campy atmosphere of the original game.

I'm not a fan of them changing Ada's face to granny Ada since she was my video game woman crush back when I was in school.

But they haven't really developed her character all these years so I don't really care about her now.

Everything else looks pretty good except Luis Sera. What the fuck have they done to my bro Luis. He was a good looking ladies man but now he looks like some coward rat.

Capcom removed Mercenaries mode from the 3 remake and replaced it with some online bullshit nobody asked for.

They shuffled around some enemy types (removed the crows, super lickers and moth, changed the Ivys, made the gator battle a glorified cutscene)

Cut EX battle mode and replaced it with Ghost survivors

Changed a lot of the layouts of the areas

The entire game was a reimagining

I think it's bull to claim that Ivys and Gator (which was great IMO) and rooms being REMADE in the REMAKE is the same as cut-content

Cut content would be if there was no Nest and was no aligator

Like RE3make missed a ton of OG RE3 stuff

But everything other than spiders was relfected in RE2make. They didn't cut stuff, they just updated it.

Ada and Sherry's sections for example are vast improvements despite being different.

It's super respectful to the source material while having better game design with some new ideas

Well you would be wrong. The news in the remake behave in a totally different manner than the originals and have nothing in common outside of being plant monsters. The original enemy was totally cut.

That and the sewer gator boss fight is no longer a boss fight. The entire idea of it being a boss and the ways you could approach it were cut from the game. The enemy is still there, but the fight is gone.

By your logic EVERYTHING in OG RE2 is cut, since it's different in Remake.

No if it's in the game, it's not cut.

RE3's clocktower, park and "Make a Choice" segments are cut. Because they ain't there

But Aligator and Mr X and Marvin and Ada and Nest and Sewers etc all are in RE2make, even though they are Remade, they're all there.

I gotta disagree.

Ada was mentioned in RE1 and in RE2 wasn't particularly sexy.

It wasn't until RE4 that they tarted her up.

To be honest, RE1-3 were surprisingly ahead of the curve for female characters considering they're Japanese and from the 90s.

Breasts weren't ridiclous, they were all compentent (Except Rebecca I guess) and wore reasonable outfits.

The femminists would have very little to complain about until the port where you could touch Jill's breasts and butt.

Looks like it might actually be a horror game now, so yes.

I have hope for 4 though

I'm replaying the original for the first time in years and it holds up so well.

It may be hard for the remake to recapture the very satisfying gameplay that the original provides despite its slight clunkiness.

There are some very fundamental gameplay design flaws that are just bad IMO.

If RE4 was released today for the first time, it would be trashed by critics

Capcom is VERY hit and miss with their titles so who the hell knows. Given 4's reputation id like to think they are treating it with more respect than what they gave 3. 2 remake wasnt perfect, but you can can still tell they gave a shit and did some smart modern design choices.
