Media doesn't wanna tell you about companies taking in massive profit and calling it inflation.

Which is totally, unequivocally, 100% the Dems fault, yes.

Totally.

8%? Inflation has easily been in the high double digits till now. Nothing across the board feels only 8% more expensive.

No, our excessive money printing aside.
Other factors are record floods and droughts ruining seasonal harvest, transporation issues, supply chain issues caused by the war in Ukraine. From oil, gas, rare earth's, wheat, fertilizers, and etc. A bird flu pandemic has also wiped out millions of livestock also. Which explains the rise in cost of things like eggs, milk and meats.

Things are only going to get alot worse in winter. The US will probabaly manage still. But the EU? From what I hear are going to be in for a rough one.

Inflation is measured using a standardized "basket of goods". Some are high, others low. The average is 8%.

So of the 20% increase in costs of things is only 8% is accounted for by inflation, and TC is right in his observation that the news is incorrect in their attribution?

More like basket of bullshit. It's not even "standardized" either since they'll change it up, claiming it's to better fit the buying habits of people, but really just to fudge with the numbers. Food, housing, energy, and healthcare are all WAY up and the biggest budget items for people. Food at a minimum is 20% more expensive in general and the rest are up by a much higher amount. They'll include things like big screen TVs and mobile phones to lower the number, but technology is inherently deflationary since manufacturing costs are low and the initial high price is to recoup R&D. There is also a lot of room to fudge the numbers by picking different food items that may not have raised by much.

The topic was about something a bit more specific than "inflation", as both the thread title and OP show - media mischaracterization of increased prices due ONLY to inflation.

Your post appeared to be deflecting - instead of disputing the OP created a strawman ('conspiracy of people saying there's no inflation).

They second post literally says Media doesn't wanna tell you about companies taking in massive profit and calling it inflation. That is how is how this treads into conspiracy territory and is a very popular belief on this board.

You in fact seem to be deflecting by arguing over semantics.

You managed to post something that A) didn't answer why you thought this topic was "just complaining about inflation" (as you claim in post 30) nor B) refuted (or even engaged with) the OP's statement (media misrepresenting).

But to address this post - your saying I'm using semantics to deflect from the fact that CE that collectively maintains a conspiracy theory that there is NO inflation? I want to make sure I understand what you claim I'm doing.

Regardless, I will state that I *don't* believe CE has a collective conspiracy that there is NO inflation (just company greed).

What even is facetiousness? Jfc I didn't even imply that inflation didn't exist anyway.

And corporations are taking in record profit because they're pricing shit above the rate of inflation and that isn't a conspiracy. It isn't even a fucking secret.
