Its caught my eye due to pricing...

I'm assuming you are talking about on console as it's currently full price on PC (where I played it).

Anyways, the game is solid if you are into that kind of gameplay. It's a bit of a "self aware" Shadow of Mordor in that it mostly just added a bunch of nonsense to do with the nemesis system/mind controlling orcs. Importantly it basically starts with you being able to create an army as that was one of the main reasons to play the first yet that one only let you do it once you hit the half-way point. That whole system is pretty heavily revamped as a major part of its goal was to make a bit of a Pokemon-style "catch them all" with a large quantity of unique dudes to collect (though they are rare as to make it so that you will have to actually dig for them). It's also super grindy to do much with the system, but if you like the game's core gameplay then there is fun to be had regardless (especially if you learn the abuses, as those can get pretty goofy).

Beyond that it's mostly just more of the same. If you liked Shadow of Mordor they didn't really change a lot of the core, non-orc gameplay (especially not in any negative way) and that is what you will be doing most of the time. It still doesn't live up to its full potential (there are a lot of complaints I have levied at the series, such as the lack of "orcs outside of the system" meaning that the game gets way too predictable/easy after a while) but the additions make it fun to play. Story is still garbage, but I can't really envision caring too much about either for the story if you aren't just looking for danky LotR fan-service.

If you liked the first one, sure. If you haven't played the first one I would recommend playing it first.

Geeze the entire def/ goty Mordor/War bundle is $10 on PS.....

I enjoyed it, but liked the combat a sliver less than SoM. Ten bucks for both is a good deal, though.

And theyre the def/goty. As much as i prefer physical: That price is very nice.

The first one has one of the worst final boss battles in gaming history.

To avoid spoilers it's just a wet fart of an encounter. The fight is stupidly easy (even worse than normal when combat in both games could reasonably be considered "kind of hard" if you aren't just stealth killing everything) and the fight just comes across as existing for the sake of having no original ideas/fan service. Basically it was a fight just because there has to be a final boss fight.

It doesn't ruin the game by any stretch but it is the low point.

I beat Fable 2. I cant think of a worse boss fight. If i spoiled it id be doing you a favor.

I know what you are talking about and it is nowhere near that bad. It's just another "bad final boss" on the pile that only is as bad as it is because the game leading up is so enjoyable.

Lol I always forget about it as the other four major villains (i.e. The Tower etc) they put so much effort into thier design, but then you get to Sauron...and press circle....

It's such a let down. I mean the other boss battles kinda suck too, but at least they were real battles.

If you wait too long the guy on the right shoots him like mid-sentence and is all "oh did you want to kill him?"

I bought it full price back when it came out before all the mtx outrage and revamp, I thought it had everything a game should have to be fun but it felt somehow hollow, I havent picked it back up in like half a decade now.

I should try it out again.

I'm not really familiar with wrpgs and don't know anything about Fable but that just seems like a hilarious subversion to me, like something out of Deathspank. Was that the intention there?

i still have to do the DLC portion on those.
it's not too bad you have to get lucky on certain mechanic's and save scumming if have positive times.

some of the lil bastards refuse to die :(.

Fable 2 is great. Its last boss sucks. Its dlcs are great as well.
