It wasn't really dumb to sell twitter.

Musk offered a price that way over the value of twitter and the shareholders got a nice payout. It was dumb of Musk to offer the deal in the first place.

Twitter was failing long before Musk bought it. They had been looking to get acquired for years before this, as far back as 2016 there were rumors of it. It's only ever held a fraction of the userbase of other social medias platforms like Facebook and TikTok. And again...THEY HAVE NEVER MADE MONEY.
