I'm not sure why I even do this, but when I'm flying somewhere, I always go to my gate and put eyes on it before I go get food or use the bathroom.

Well I go and make sure my flight is actually still scheduled at that gate despite what the boards say because there has been so much fuckery, delay, and gate switching recently.

So I guess that qualifies.

I think it's more about knowing where it is so you aren't struggling to locate it last second.

Thats exactly what I do. Find the gate first, and then look around for nearby food and bathrooms.

I do it so that if I lose a Pokemon battle, I'm transported back to my gate and not the front of the airport.

Yea, that, especially when I'm in an airport I don't know. I always go to the terminal first, find my gate, and then look around the area for food. If the layout is long enough, like 2 hours in Atlanta, I'll go check out the food in other terminals and just walk around for a bit.
