I've been noticing this for a while and the change is pretty drastic from the time I grew up till now, the level of attractiveness of people has really gone down in almost every way possible: fatter, less attractive facial esthetics, shorter, worse skin.

I remember growing up and there were tons of good looking people in my city, the guys were tall and played sports and many were handsome, the girls were fit and active with pretty faces. Now I drive around the city or go to events or campuses and everyones straight busted: scrunched up faces, terrible jawlines, shitty fashion, shorter, overweight, and tbh just plain ugly, like not even average but they have distorted facial features or frumpy/dumpy bodies with all fat zero muscle or they are so skinny and weak its disturbing to look at. Theres one university that had basically supermodels walking around everywhere a few decades ago and now this generation is 100% busted as sin, like zero good looking, healthy looking people.

Like back in the day 4 out of 10 young people would be considered attractive and fit, now its 1 out of 30 or something crazy like that. I do think this type of phenomenon is relative to the area or city you live in, but it definitely happened in mine. Its strange to see the 40 year olds looking in better shape, better/healthier looking than the teens or 20 year olds. So I think of the reasons why this happened, because honestly I thought the opposite would happen, as the younger gen would be getting more protein and better standard of living, they would grow taller and better looking but instead its been a drastic change to the other side.

Reasons:

1. When I was young there was a big immigration wave here, some were born here or came here early but they still mostly ate the traditional meals of their homelands that they're parents cooked, alot healthier and nutritious than the junkfood kids eat nowadays almost exclusively. I've noticed this alot with this new gen, all they eat is processed food, Mcdonalds, candy, chips, soda, etc. I noticed the girls especially consume a huge amount of dairy foods: coffee, starbucks, pizza, lattes, frappucinos etc. all they eat is dairy and sugar and junkfood which is ruining their physical appearance. My generation we were all taller than our parents because better food, but with the new generation its now the opposite they are shorter, weaker than their parents.
2. Back in the day there wasn't as much social media, internet, netflix etc. If you wanted to entertain yourself you played sports, went outside to meet friends. Even the girls played sports or did cheerleading, people were much more active and physically fit, the men were taller and leaner, the girls had rosy cheeks and nice skin. I live in a fairly cold city with harsh winters but we still went outside and the cold air was good for our skin. And we were constantly moving, walking, etc. Nowadays the girls are all on social media and dont go out and the guys are playing video games and dont go out.
3. There also seems to a wider general acceptance of letting yourself go or not caring for your personal appearance. Girls used to take care of themselves, wear decent clothes, now I see the younger gen have given up basically, they walk around in jogging pants, shitty unkempt hair. The guys all have acne, zero muscle development from a sedentary lifestlyle, they are also very weak mentally most have never even been in a fistfight their entire lives and hate any form of confrontation.
4. There are other factors that have factor into this but I dont want to get into too much and is specific to my area/city. Immigration is a big one, but thats a hot topic I don't want to get into, but I will say some of these new immigrants into my city come from parts of the world where zero fucks are given to personal appearance and exercise so that factors into it as well. But its mostly a lifestyle change with the new generation, and theres real world consequences beyond just superficial looks: more health problems, more mental problems, more single lonely people with less physical energy and confidence, rising medical costs due to health issues.

In conclusion, lets turn this thing around. Ugly and unhealthy doesn't have to be the new normal, thats what marketers and corporations probably want us to be: overweight lifeless consumers for life. F that noise, ugly doesn't have to be the new normal.

Bingo, number one reason is food, number 2 is exercise. Sure we ate junkfood growing up too but not all the time like the kids nowadays, everything they eat now is processed junk.

Where I used to live, getting into a fight meant someone was going to pull a knife; so unless you were carrying a knife, you didn't get into a fight.

Like I said, its relative to my city/area, and yes they definitely are getting uglier and less healhty looking, the change is drastic.

I don't know whats going on in other places but the one I've lived in. Like who knows theres probably cities out there where the opposite is happening and people are getting better looking. But I suspect overall its trending to the ugly side, at least here in North America and other western nations. Obesity rates show this, last I heard the average American woman is 170lbs.

No idea about teens though. I've gotten the point where I can't really differentiate between middle schoolers and high schoolers anymore. They all look like children to me.

I dont disagree with everything you said, especially in regards to physical fitness and effort, but I think its unnecessary to judge anyone on the way their face looks.

The truth is that looks are like 10% important right now and money is 90%.

The people younger than me, but tbh I actually look younger than some of them even now or at least healthier. And like I said its relative to the city/area you live in. I would think LA would always be top notch because attracive people from other places like to emmigrate to LA. In my city theres been a major drop off, like huge. From a place of supermodels to just straight busted.

American diet is crazy unhealthy. That's why Japan only has 4% obesity while America has like 30% obesity. That's why I love them asian chicks >_> They're still mostly skinny

Food is worse, technology made exercise more rare from a recreational and occupational standpoint, and people are encouraged to cheat more with surgery/cosmetics.

I don't know if I agree with this, I think the uglier gen is partly due to more attractive girls hooking up with richer dudes who are more on the ugly side, so the attractive people didn't make kids with each other as much. The dudes with no money that got girls, I remember to be more masculine/good looking, sure they were broke slobs, but they were usually decent looking.

Yea its harder for me to tell on TV shows usually than real life, but if the ones on TV are even getting uglier/less healthy thats not a good sign.

The establishment wants them to be weak. Weak people are easier to control.
The youth in America used to be anti- establishment. They used to be punk rock. Now they are so pro establishment it's horrifying.
They think they're rebels when in fact they're puppets of big government and support communist ideologies like censorship and destroying anyone who dares think for the themselves and stray from the hive mind.
The elites and the wannabe elites who worship them have an endgame: to destroy America. To shred the constitution.
They burn down cities. They attack in hordes like zombies. They think majoring in ___Studies makes them intellectuals.
They hate their own country that gives them so much freedom and nice things. These ungrateful spoiled brats don't know how good they have it.
I for one hope America does go full commie. Then these people will get what they earned and deserve: a life of misery.

I'm definitely not reading all that when I understand that perception is the majority of it. Which is very noticable when the stuff you personally find attractive is non conventional to what's pushed as attractive. Just gain control of your own perception and stop following trends and you'll find beauty in most people. You can literally become more physically attracted to someone you like for deeper reasons if you gain control over your own shallowness. It won't just be something you say to not come off shallow

I'm not sure if people are getting uglier or not, but this is a bad argument. The reason people are conscious about those things now is because they have to be. Before, eating natural/healthy food and exercising was the only option. They didn't think about it because their lives already were that, all the time.
